“Prior to the visit, I visited the website with my class so we would have some schema for the monarch butterfly.  The call sat in front of my computer as we read and explored www.MonarchPublishers.com.   We found a butterfly poem that the children were able to do finger movements with as we read.  We talked about host plants, nectar and how plants protect the butterfly.

The students had some prior knowledge about the author, book, and monarch butterfly before going into the assembly.

The drama was fabulous.  The students enjoyed the butterfly performance.  The author and illustrator connected with the audience and brought the performance to the student’s level. They were creative and informative.

The soft pastel pictures drawn on the paper with teeth were breath taking and your model is super cute too (Jake).
