"Making Connections:
The Arts, Literature and Student Engagement" is a
day of fun featuring a flight from the classroom to Mexico. Teachers and
administrators learn new and creative ways to help students achieve success.
Using Jake and the Migration of the Monarch,
teaching guides, and other enrichment resources, they dance, sing, and perform
their way into a lively discussion of curricular connections and standards.

In the Georgetown School District,
even the Superintendent, Dr. Randy Dozier
played a role in the skit. Dr. Dozier, are you a butterfly or simply "a
little tiny nectar flower?" Thanks for being so supportive of your staff!

"To meet Crystal and
Valerie is to fall in love with two ladies who have a passion for what they do.
During their session at the SCASL conference, I was introduced to Jake and the
book Jake and the
Migration of the Monarch.
As a parent - I cried. As a teacher - I cheered. As a media
specialist - I celebrated. Greenville County is blessed to have such
incredible school board members." Renee Beverly, Conway Elementary
In the Spartanburg

thank Assistant Superintendent Dr.
Donna Gutshall for playing a role in the skit!

"Our
teachers were delighted and motivated with the heartwarming
presentation. The hands-on approach and interactive participation provided our
teachers with experiences of how to bring the book and standards-based lessons
directly to students. Great book, great instructional fun, and great for
teachers and children!" Dr. Donna Gutshall, Assistant Superintendent /
Instruction, Spartanburg School District 6
